It seems to have unlimited actions, its got loads of arms, for loads of different things, it can clearly multi task... its a childs dream.
no more dishes, or picking up your toys, no more put that away or go clean up what youve messed, its probably an adults dream too if you think about it, but from the childs perspective, it was probably a genius machine that could fix everything and make not only his life, but the parents lives so much easier.....if it existed.
Childrens imaginations are amazing though, they imagine it possible to create a machine that can do just about everything when knowing nothing of how it could be possible. in fairness thats how technology works, someone invents and imagines something that seems so impossible and yet it happens and it just keeps going, and thats how the world has become technological, people imagine to the greatest limits.
I tried thinking through the eyes of Tom (the original artist) and remembered a popular kids tv show, Mickey Mouse, clubhouse. Its an animated cartoon, where kids learn from Mickey Mouse and the gang, in a clubhouse basically made up of random Disney parts shoved together, like someone was playing about with lego when it was created, but its a magical technological house, where theres a code word to reveal it, and there are more rooms than could possibly fit inside such a building, or building shape, and inside there are the stereotypical white Disney gloves on stretchy flexible robotic arms, and they do, bring and get, so perhaps this general idea of more hands make less work is common amoung imaginative children, maybe its a dream come true to have robotic hands that do everything boring you dont want to.
Then i got to thinking, if theres all these hands and claws that come out of this robot, maybe hes like a swiss army knife, has a hand or gadget for everything, kind of like kids tv show, inspector gadget.
But how to portray that in a final 3D model is the consistent question.
The DBG is clearly a happy little character, with his little egg head, i worked on some initial sketches of his head and accessories in my sketchbook, its uninteresting in terms of emotive design, but i like the idea of the happy little face like a happy, Japanese emoticon. like some of the examples given below, they are extremely happy, and glitchy looking, happy to help but hollow and empty, simply because they are digital/robotic.

Theres plenty of 'robots have feelings' movies i could take inspiration from, (some shown below) and if i was to take on the DBG character, i would have to really try at the emotive design. I love the imagination and the design of the character and i could really push the buttons and arms and sleek design to a whole new level, but id be disregarding the emotive design element in the brief. so unfortunately i dont think ill be going with the Dooer-Bringer-Getter, im just not interested in it enough to carry it the whole way through.

As interesting as the whole artificial intelligence line goes, i think movies have just about covered it and i dont see much potential creatively in the DBG at this point.
