Object of Obsession

Due to the themes of my characters emotive design and final pose, i need an object for him to fixate on, something to possess and torment him, a relevant representative of obsession for him to hunch over. 

I designed many objects as seen in SKETCHBOOK, including test tubes and containers but none that seemed to fit, until the idea of a needle.

It fits in with the whole science and experimental aspect, however i also want to make it a radioactive green maybe glowing so much it can be seen on his face, giving him a more sinister and entranced look. 

i want it to be a very sharp, clean cut and professional looking needle,but a syringe like handle so it is basic enough if he were to use it.
